| So....I'm done with my work at Bearly Intellectually Orthodox, Lacking
Application. I'm not happy with my last paper I turned in for
Ethics...but he wanted me to cite things I didn't need to cite...and he
wasn't direct on the assignment...oh well, I'll take an A- and not weap.
Anyway, what I've learned thus far at Biola is as follow....
1) CBU is a much better school theologically, biblically, and in many wasy philosophically.
2) BIOLA has a sweet bookstore and an even sweeter library....it beats the crap out of CBU's sadly.
3) The BIOLA Jesus wall is the same as the CBU koogle, the
administration loves it...but the students make it the butt of at least
1/8th of their weeklig jokes.
4) I've had 3 or 4 people ask me when I got my Masters from Talbot, and
if it was in theology or philosophy.....when I say I just gradated from
CBU, they ask what I got my masters in there. So, a BA at CBU = an MA
at Talbot.
5) Pretty much all the guys at BIOLA think they are in Kutless or TFK...or at least they dress that way
6) You can teach philosophy w/o being able to explain Davis Hume's ideas (he wasn't that important, was he?)
7) You can translate the book of Phillipians in a Greek class, and know more about textual criticism than the Kinosis passage
Acedemically I've learned....
1) That JP Morland and William Lane Craig are actually part of the trinity
2) You don't need Scripture to inform your theological views
3) Its impossible to be an educated Calvinist
On a more serious note, obviously I've learned some things at BIOLA, or
I wouldn't be planning on staying there next year, but mostly I've
learned how to push myself because Biola is not geared at actually
teaching that well.
On an even more serious note, CBU guys, be happy with what you have.
You ar at a school that is teaching you to be intelligent Christians
that exhort the body of Christ. What I have seen thus far at Biola is a
worship of the mind over Scripture, a focus on the self over the
community and a general sophistry that bleeds out into churches. There
seems to be a disconnect where "spiritual growth" seems to mean
"intellectual developement." The students claim to be growing in
Christ, but it is hard to see that often times from talking with them
or observing them.
I guess if I could say just one thing, its pray for Biola..and the
churches that have to fix the students who go there. Its a dirty
business cleaning out white wased tombs.

| I just went from "Philosophy professor at an incredably young age" to "unemployeed"...sad day;[
Haha, semester at CBU is over..still 3 weeks at Biola..but w/o all that work for CBU...the Biola cake will be easy;]
